Michael S. Newman
Mr. Newman has over 40 years of telecommunications engineering experience, in microwave and radio transmission engineering, mobile radio systems engineering, and various specialized areas in telecommunications engineering, including fiber optics, and communications dispatch centers. He has designed radio systems for the public and private sector, using both analog and digital technology.
CSI Telecommunications, Inc. is a California consulting engineering firm with a practice limited to telecommunications and electrical engineering. The firm has been in operation since it was started in 1986 by Mr. Newman. CSI performs design work, government agency and license application engineering, preparation of specifications, construction supervision, propagation analysis, measurements, testing, and operational review of public safety critical infrastructure radio systems. CSI associates also have expertise in wireless communications and two way communications systems, and DC power systems engineering.
CSI Telecommunications, Inc. has a long history of innovative design to resolve complex problems and makes extensive use of computer technology to access allocation databases and digitized terrain data, for CAD-system design and automated propagation studies. Clients include city, county and state government entities as well as commercial telecommunications firms, private broadcasting companies, educational institutions, cable television systems, and airports.
Prior to forming CSI, Mr. Newman was an Engineering Manager for a major telecommunications common carrier where he was responsible for engineering and systems standards, transmission engineering, and special projects. While in the employ of a major utility company, he had responsibility for microwave and radio communications engineering.
Mr. Newman currently represents CSI Telecommunications, Inc. as an accredited voting member of the ANSI/ATIS Telecommunications Standards Association. He is also a voting member of the Telecommunications Industry Association, and the IEEE Standards association. Over the course of his career Mr. Newman has participated in the development of many industry and national telecommunications standards, including D.C. power systems, grounding, lightening protection, digital interfaces, networking, microwave system design and many other related fields. He was formerly the Vice-Chairman and co-founder of an ANSI/ESCA Telecommunications Standards sub-committee.
