Burt Weiner
Burt began his broadcast engineering career while still in high school when he worked part-time for KBMS FM in Glendale maintaining and modifying as well as operating studio equipment. Burt was involved in the construction of a 10,000 Watt amplifier that raised the ERP of KBMS to approximately 105,000 Watts. KBMS is now KPWR.
He established Burt I. Weiner Associates as a frequency measurement service in 1972 and still conducts regular off-air measurements for a number of Southern California stations. His scope of work has expanded to include trouble shooting in all phases of AM and FM broadcasting.
In 1989 Burt started to provide a range of services that includes spectrum analysis of signals and mitigation of Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) problems, occupied bandwidth measurements and NRSC/FCC compliance Proof of Performance measurements, troubleshooting and repair of AM directional Antenna systems, field intensity measurements and technical support for all aspects of broadcast RF troubleshooting.
Burt’s expertise in RF matters is well known in the region. He is often called on to solve complex RF interference matters that include Part 74 spectrum. Burt held a First Class Radio Telephone License and now holds a lifetime General Radio Telephone Commercial License. He is a long time active amateur radio operator holding the call sign K6OQK.
